36.6 Pharmacy Chain Will Launch a Hospital

December 11, 2007

36.6 Pharmacy Chain will add a new kind of asset to its old ones – drugstores, pharmacy production business and a clinic. A week ago the company purchased a large building in the centre of Moscow which is supposed to be converted into a hospital where about 100 doctors will work.

Total investments in the projects will be approximately $65 millions. The hospital is to launch its services in a year.

One day of staying in the hospital will cost 250 euro, an average surgery will cost 3500 euro.

Market experts see 36.6’s move as a consistent enough, according to Vedomosti. The number of hospitals in Russia reduced during the recent years due to recession in the state medical sector. But the growth of the private medical sector could compensate that.

The market of commercial medical services in Russia is estimated at $7.6 bn. It is predicted that in 2010 the market will be about $12.7 bn.
